The Problem
Most owners have filled in their profile. It still does not get them chosen. When 3 complete profiles all say "quality work, free estimates, licensed and insured", a buyer cannot tell them apart, and price decides.
And most owners cannot say what the profile sends them. Performance shows "calls", but those are taps on a button, not answered calls, and nobody has turned them into money.
Ranking gets you seen. Your profile gets you chosen. They are different jobs.
The Profile Sales Page: 6 Questions
A stranger reads your profile on a phone in about 20 seconds. They are checking 6 things.
- Who are you? Name, primary category, logo, cover.
- Do you do my job? Services and description.
- Do you cover me, and when? Service area, hours, attributes.
- Can I trust you? Reviews, replies, credentials you can prove.
- What will it look like? Photos and videos.
- How do I start? Phone, booking link, website, posts.

A Sample: What Is a Profile Call Worth?
A hypothetical fencing contractor makes $1,200 of gross profit per job. She answers 8 calls in 10, and 1 in 4 answered calls becomes a job. So one profile call is worth 0.8 x 0.25 x $1,200 = $240 to her. Her Performance report showed 20 calls last month, and 12 callers told her they found her listing. That puts the profile's calls at somewhere between $3,600 and $4,800 of gross profit for the month. Every number is a round hypothetical. The book shows you how to run it on yours.
Questions
Will this get me ranked higher? No promise, from us or anyone. Google says there is no way to pay for a better local ranking, and distance from the searcher is a big part of it. This book is about getting chosen by the buyers who do find you. Ranking across your area is covered in the Local SEO Rescue Guide.
Does it tell me how many photos or posts to add? No. There is no quota in it, because nobody has shown one that fits your trade and your town. You choose photos by the question they answer and track your own numbers.
What about Questions and Answers and messaging? Google retired Questions and Answers and the old chat feature. The book shows you where those answers go now.
Is it current? Platform steps were checked against Google's help pages on 2 October 2026, and every page is listed with its date.
Who This Is For
The owner of a local service business (a fencing contractor, a plumber, a dentist, a cleaning company, an auto shop) who has a verified Google Business Profile, has filled in most of it, and still cannot say whether it brings in work or what a stranger sees when they find it.
